SUPPORT WORKER

ABOUT ME: Outside of work, I love listening to country music, crafting and creating paintings for my home. I enjoy bringing ideas to life through creative projects and find painting and crafting a lovely way to relax.

I also love cooking for the people I care about, spending quality time with my family and making special memories together. Whether it is a quiet day at home, trying a new recipe or planning something fun with my loved ones, family time is very important to me.

EXPERIENCE: I have worked as a support worker for over four years and previously worked intensively as a Teacher Aide for more than ten years within both a Special Education Unit and Prep program. This has given me extensive experience supporting children, young people and adults of all ages, including people on the autism spectrum.

I have particular experience supporting children under 10 to build morning and afternoon routines, develop everyday life skills and grow their independence. I have supported participants with ASD Levels 1, 2 and 3, ADHD, GDD, anxiety, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, Down syndrome and cerebral palsy.

I have also been part of the wonderful team at Spectrum Adventures, supporting families and their children with autism spectrum disorder at family-based camps. These camps focused on creating a calm, accepting and fun environment where every member of the family could feel included and enjoy meaningful experiences together.

My approach is calm, kind and person-centred. I believe every person is unique, with their own strengths, needs and way of learning. I enjoy helping participants build confidence, develop a stronger sense of self and feel supported as they work towards their individual goals.
