ABOUT ME: Hello, I’m Jodie I am a caring, creative, and compassionate person who genuinely enjoys helping others and making a positive difference in their lives. I have a strong passion for animals I have worked closely with all animals, and it has strengthened my natural caring nature and reinforced the importance of patience, empathy, and understanding. That experience inspired me even further to pursue a career where I can support people to achieve their goals and live fulfilling lives. Outside of work, I love expressing my creativity through art and enjoy all things creative, whether it's trying new projects, exploring different artistic ideas, or finding fun and engaging ways to connect with others. EXPIERENCE: Although I am new to the disability support industry, I bring a wealth of transferable skills, lived experience, and a genuine passion for supporting others. Throughout my career as a Team Leader and Trainer in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, I have developed strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and mentoring skills while managing teams of up to eight staff members. My role has required me to train new employees, support people with varying learning styles, prioritise safety, maintain high standards, and remain calm under pressure. I have also gained valuable customer service experience working in a pharmacy, where I developed empathy, professionalism, and the ability to build positive relationships with people from all walks of life. These experiences have equipped me with the confidence, patience, and organisational skills that are highly transferable to providing person-centred disability support. My passion for disability support is also deeply personal. Growing up alongside my autistic brother has given me valuable lived experience and a genuine understanding of the importance of patience, communication, routine, acceptance, and individualised support. Combined with my own experiences of relying on others during my recovery from severe scoliosis and spinal surgery, I have developed a strong appreciation for the positive impact compassionate support can have on a person's life. These experiences have inspired me to pursue a career where I can make a meaningful difference every day. To further develop my knowledge and provide the highest quality support possible, I will be undertaking my Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability), allowing me to build upon my existing life experience with industry-recognised qualifications and best practice skills. I am excited to continue learning, growing, and providing compassionate, person-centred support that empowers individuals to achieve their goals and live fulfilling lives
